Description
 The A and O. Russian Bread from Dr. Quendt is the original specialty from Dresden, delighting palates since 1845. This alphabet-shaped pastry is made with plenty of caramel and is a favorite with young and old alike. This treat is baked naturally without artificial colors or flavors, giving you true pleasure when you crunch on it.
 The story behind it:
 Dresden residents have always been gifted with inventions – and so was the young baker Ferdinand Wilhelm Hanke. When he first opened the shutters of his German-Russian bakery in 1845, passersby were amazed. In the window, they saw the first alphabet to eat. Hanke called his original alphabet cookies "Russian Bread." With good reason: He had discovered the recipe during his apprenticeship in St. Petersburg. "Bukwi" was the Cyrillic version of these small baked masterpieces, which are now almost unknown in Russia. "Russian Bread," on the other hand, remains a traditional Dresden tradition to this day.
